UNE Art Gallery 在波特兰 to showcase math-inspired pieces by six artists beginning 6月7日

University of New England Art Gallery 在波特兰 will host an opening reception for its latest exhibit, “数字游戏”,“星期五”, 6月7日, 从5点到8点.m. 的 exhibit, a series of works by six artists, will be displayed from 6月7日 to Oct. 13. 

的 artists of “数字游戏”” use mathematics as part of the creative process, creating works that range from spare to geometrical and from radiantly crystalized to biomorphic, 希拉里·艾恩斯说, director of Galleries and Exhibitions at UNE. Artists featured in the show include Grace DeGennaro, 林恩的杜, 艾米丽-哈斯, 梅格·哈恩, Munira Naqui, 爱丽丝·斯宾塞.  

Irons noted that mathematics is the foundational, abstract system used to find order in the world and in theory by examining the workings of numbers. 为艺术家, 她说, processes such as measuring, 计数, 分段, responding to symmetry are methods that grant numbers a primary place in the studio.
